Village BBQ - 8th June 2019
The Residents' Association committee had an anxious week watching the weather forecast in the week running up to the BBQ but were confident it would all be all right on the night, and so it proved to be. Although there was a deluge on the Friday and rain on the Saturday morning, the rain blew away and the sun came out. The gusty conditions did prove challenging as the gazebos were erected but soon the preparations were complete and we were ready to welcome the guests.
Over 70 villagers, adults and children, came along and enjoyed the excellent BBQ which was prepared by Laura Lord, cooked by Phil Davies and served by Clare Donovan.

Meanwhile Sue Robinson and Rik Jones manned the bar and ensured no one went thirsty.

Villagers had been asked to order their tickets in advance, mainly to make sure we did not run out of food, and as an incentive the RA offered entry into a prize draw to all who booked before the day. The lucky winner was Jo Morris who was presented with a bottle of English sparkling wine by committee Chairman, Dave Smith.

While the children played, the adults relaxed, chatted, ate and drank under the evening sunshine whilst listening to music supplied by Graham Tweddle. Everyone agreed it was a great evening. Many thanks to all those who helped and to all the villagers who lent a hand in clearing up afterwards.
Although the main purpose of the evening is for friends and neighbours to get together, the event did make a profit of over £450 which will be used by the Residents’ Association towards the upkeep of our village green.
