Casino Night - 7th October 2017

Forty residents turned up to the village hall in Crazies Hill to enjoy a fun filled casino night based on a Las Vegas rat pack theme. The event was sponsored by the village’s future superfast broadband provider, Gigaclear, which meant the Residents’ Association could reduce the price of the tickets to the benefit of all those who attended.

Guests were given a welcome drink on arrival and £100 each of chips to be used on the professionally run Blackjack and Roulette tables. Complete novices had no need to fear as the expert croupiers explained the intricacies of the games and the betting.

Included in the evening was a two course meal. The main course was a beautifully prepared lamb dish cooked by our local village pub, The Horns. The chocolate desert was prepared by committee member Laura Lord. Everyone agreed the food was delicious.

Background music from the Rat Pack era was supplied by the committee’s music mixer, Graham Tweddle, and guests soon started to play with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin crooning in the background.

Once supper was over guests returned to the gaming tables where they obviously enjoyed themselves as they were still going strong when we had to call time at 11:00pm. So all good things must come to an end, however not before those people who still had some money left (in the form of chips) counted up to see who had won a prize. The lady and gentleman with the most money each won a bottle of wine. They were Jan Siburn and Seb Reynolds. Congratulations to them both.

Many thanks to all the Residents’ Association committee members, David Noyes, Cath Reynolds, Phil Davies, Laura Lord, Sue Robinson, Richard Jones, Graham Tweddle and Dave Smith who helped make the evening such a success.
