Race Night 16th October 2021

It was a fairly safe bet that the Residents’ Association Race Night would be a winner. They have always proved popular in the past and so it was this time as well. Around 60 villagers were glad to be able to gather together and enjoy themselves after the continuing Covid restrictions we have had this year.

Biggest winner on the night was the urbane Roger Avent, who won £25 on a single race!!!!

But we were all winners. Angie Collis and Claire Donovan, members of the RA committee, cooked up a storm with a choice of chilli, con carne or not, and Sarah Hart of Wargrave’s H’Artisan provided cakes cooked by Louise in ‘The Cake Studio’ behind our village hall.

So, a winning cookery combination to soften the blow that most nags – even Niegh Good, Passsing Wind and Postman Pat – simply didn’t make it to the finish line in time.

Thanks to all those who helped out on the night without whom the evening could not have been the success it was

Although the main purpose of the evening is for friends and neighbours to get together, the event did make a profit of over £647 for the association. which will be used by the Residents’ Association towards the upkeep of our village green.
